By audience
Who we're planning for
For Homes
Lower monthly bills and keep important loads on during outages.
- Reduce monthly bills
- Backup for refrigeration and lighting
- Phased investment starting with solar
See if a hybrid or grid-tied system fits your usage.
For Businesses
Manage demand and energy cost across operating hours.
- Manage daytime demand
- Reduce peak charges where applicable
- Resilience for point-of-sale and connectivity
Commercial assessment begins with 12 months of bills.
For Agriculture
Power irrigation, barns and cold storage where the grid is unreliable or absent.
- Irrigation pumping
- Drying and cold storage
- Power where the grid is absent
Off-grid and hybrid options suit many farms — start with load data.
For Resilient Facilities
Maintain continuity for clinics, water and communications.
- Clinic refrigeration
- Water and communications
- Continuity during outages
Critical loads are identified and prioritised before sizing storage.
System architectures
Grid-tied, hybrid and off-grid — honestly compared.
Grid-tied solar
Offset eligible daytime consumption with on-site solar generation. Subject to BC Hydro approval and the self-generation rate, qualifying surplus may be exported for billing credit.
- Battery
- None
- Outage behaviour
- Shuts down for safety
- Net-metering
- Subject to BC Hydro self-generation (net metering closed to new customers, July 2026).
- Best-fit customer
- Homes and businesses with stable grid and mostly daytime consumption.

Important: Ordinary grid-tied solar normally shuts down during an outage for safety — it does not provide backup power by itself. Battery storage is required to maintain power to essential loads when the grid is down.
Grid-Tied Solar
Can do
•Offset daytime consumption
•Eligible for net-metering where the utility allows it
•Lowest entry cost per kW
Cannot do
•No backup during an outage
•No energy stored for night-time use
Discovery questions
— Is the grid reliable at your site?
— When does your consumption happen?
Request an assessment to see if grid-tied alone fits your objective.
Hybrid Solar + Storage
Can do
•Backup for essential loads during outages
•Stored energy for night-time use
•Optional net-metering
Cannot do
•Cannot run the whole building on a single battery
•Higher cost than grid-tied alone
Discovery questions
— Which loads must stay on during an outage?
— How long do outages typically last?
We define essential loads honestly before sizing a battery.
Off-Grid / Remote Systems
Can do
•Power where the grid is absent or unreliable
•Autonomous operation
•Designed around real load profile
Cannot do
•No grid backup
•Requires careful load management
•Battery sizing is critical
Discovery questions
— What is the daily load and peak demand?
— What is the longest cloudy spell to plan for?
Off-grid sizing depends on accurate load data — start with a site review.
